Insertion Loss: The attenuation of output optical power relative to input optical power in each path, measured in dB. This is a key indicator of splitter efficiency; a lower value is better.

 

Splitting Ratio: The ratio of optical power at each output port. In system applications, the splitting ratio must be determined based on actual requirements, and it is related to the transmission wavelength. The operating wavelength must be specified when ordering.

 

Isolation: The ability of a given optical path to isolate optical signals from other optical paths. Insufficient isolation leads to signal crosstalk, affecting system performance; typically, a value of 40dB or higher is required.

 

Return Loss: The ratio of back-reflected optical power at the connection point to the input optical power. A higher return loss (more positive value) results in less reflection and a more stable system. For PC-type connectors, ≥40dB is required; for APC-type connectors, ≥50dB is required.

 

Uniformity: Specifically refers to the maximum difference in insertion loss among the output ports of a splitter. Better uniformity means a more even distribution of optical power to each user.
